We have launched an emergency fund to aid in the rescue and relief efforts in Turkey and Syria in response to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that has struck the region. While rescue efforts are still underway and the full scale of the damage is yet to be determined, we know that the humanitarian needs are enormous as thousands are feared dead, tens of thousands injured and countless homes and buildings destroyed.
For decades, The Associated has been there for the Jewish community in Ukraine. We’ve helped thousands escape antisemitism while living under the former Soviet Union regime – supported them as they built a new life in the United States and Israel.
We created our Baltimore-Odessa Partnership and helped to revitalize Jewish life in Odessa, while at the same time continuing to care for the city’s most vulnerable. Today, we watch in horror as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues to create a massive humanitarian crisis.

Every year, The Associated system infuses millions of dollars into our community thanks to our annual campaign. In addition to the important services already provided by The Associated system, we also need to address the mental health crisis with innovation and action.
A growing number of youth and adults are living with depression and anxiety. Many are in emotional distress, spiraling to self-harm and suicidal ideation. Countless individuals are turning to substance use as a coping mechanism.
