At the Macks Center for Jewish Connections (MCJC), we’re all about bringing people together and fostering a vibrant Jewish community. With our Community Connectors program, we’re taking a relationship-centered approach to bridge the gap and engage more people in Jewish life.

Position Summary:  

As a Community Connector, your main objective will be to help people connect with each other and with the Baltimore Jewish community. Your work will involve building relationships, inviting people to join you at low-barrier experiences, and identifying relevant community resources and opportunities that help deepen people’s connection to Jewish life. To achieve this, you’ll use your networks, the Macks Center for Jewish Connection databases, and social media to identify and engage with people. An ideal Connector will be friendly, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Above all, an ideal Connector will have a deep craving for community and connection and be committed to helping others build meaningful relationships in their lives. 

The Connector position is flexible. Expectations will vary depending on what the Connector commits to.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: 

  • Meet one-on-one with people who want to get more involved in Jewish life and are seeking connections. This could look like 2-6 one-on-ones per month. Engage with a minimum of 15-25 people per year. 
  • Plan and create 1-6 programs per year that create meaningful opportunities for individuals and families to connect with one another and integrates Jewish values  
  • Track audience information, interests and interactions using the Schwipe database.  
  • Provide support and information to individuals and families looking for resources and programming. 
  • Participate in Connector cohort meetings to stay informed on the various agencies, programs, and services offered within the Baltimore Jewish community and to exchange best practices and insights for building relationships and fostering engagement from a Jewish lens. 
  • Participate in semi-monthly status calls with a Connector Senior Associate to review who you have met with, and who you plan to meet with.  
  • Manage a Facebook and/or Instagram page that is used regularly to build and cultivate your community.   
  • Track expenses related to your work. 
  • Participate in additional trainings and events as appropriate.  
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications and Basic Job Requirements: 

  • Flexible availability  
  • Friendly and outgoing  
  • Basic knowledge of Jewish practices 
  • Passionate about connecting with and building Jewish community 

Experience and Skills:  

  • Strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Previous experience in engagement work preferred 
  • Strong social media presence 
  • Strong attention to detail, meet deadlines and follow up in a timely fashion 
  • Ability to represent the Macks Center for Jewish Connections (MCJC) in a professional manner 


Connectors are offered a stipend of up to $4,000 and a modest budget to cover related expenses.
