YAD Summer Soiree 2024 Recap

Last month, The Associated’s Young Adult Division hosted their biggest event of the year — the (Almost) Summer Soiree at the stunning Mount Washington Mill Dye House. The event united young Jewish adults for a fun night of mingling, noshing on delicious hors d’oeuvres and coming together for a great cause.

The Mill Dye House, with its rustic charm and elegant decor, provided the perfect backdrop for an evening dedicated to celebration and connection. Attendees enjoyed an array of gourmet food and drinks that kept spirits high throughout the night.

The Soiree wasn’t just about having fun — it also helped us reach significant fundraising goals. Thanks to the generosity of our donors that night (with donations still rolling in!), we made strides towards fighting antisemitism and making our community a safer and more welcoming place. We’re particularly thrilled to note that many of these contributions were from first-time donors who we’re so grateful have found a home at The Associated. This support is crucial as it enables us to continue our mission of fostering Jewish identity and community through our agencies, programs and initiatives.

Joshua Lamont

A highlight of the evening was a poignant speech by Joshua Lamont, owner of the Chanukah House on 34th Street in Baltimore. Joshua shared his personal experiences with antisemitism and discussed how cultivating a strong Jewish identity is more important than ever in the current climate.

Despite the hatred he has faced for publicly celebrating his heritage, Joshua maintains a strong sense of pride in his Jewish identity and plans to keep growing his Chanukah display each year. His story of resilience and hope resonated deeply with everyone in attendance, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of standing strong in the face of adversity.

Jen and Jake Lieberman

Jen and Jake Lieberman, the chairs of the event, also delivered remarks about the importance of maintaining a strong sense of identity and pride despite the hatred happening in the world right now. They discussed their goal of creating a better world for their young son Landon to live without fear of persecution.

The Summer Soiree was more than just an event — it was a celebration of our heritage, a testament to our strength and a call for continued support of one another in good times and bad. The evening exemplified the vibrant spirit of our young adult community and the deep bonds that unite us. It was heartening to see so many new faces, alongside familiar ones, come together for a shared cause.

We are immensely grateful to everyone who attended, donated and helped make this night such a resounding success. Your support ensures that we can continue to create purposeful experiences and opportunities for our Jewish community. Here’s to many more events that bring us together, strengthen our bonds and celebrate our rich cultural heritage.
