February 24 @ 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
In honor of Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month (JDAIM), join us for a special bonus evening of Mitzvah Mutts.
We will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. with a special presentation about service animals—what they do, how they support people with disabilities and why their work is so important. Following the presentation, we will continue with our traditional Mitzvah Mutts experience.
Mitzvah Mutts dogs are calm, non-judgmental listeners who can help shy or reluctant readers feel more confident.
• Participants take turns reading to friendly dogs.
• Please leave your own pets and stuffed animals at home.
• For children ages 5 and up only (no younger siblings, please).
About the Presenter:
Mindy Lipsey is a passionate advocate for service animals and the blind community. As a mother of three, including two children who are blind, Mindy spent the past eight years championing accessibility and inclusion. Inspired by her oldest child’s partnership with a guide dog, she dedicated over two years to raising guide dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Professionally and personally, she partners with the Guide Dog Foundation and America’s VetDogs to raise funds as these organizations provide service dogs at no charge and rely heavily on donations. Mindy’s family’s journey with guide dogs—from Patrick, now a retired therapy dog, to Taki, her son’s current guide dog—fuels her mission to give back and empower others.
Come see old and new friends—both human and furry! Please pre-register.
