The Associated’s JWGF Awards Grants to Support Underserved Women and Girls

A program of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore, the Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation (JWGF) recently awarded funding to eight programs in Baltimore and Israel.

The grants support organizations striving to improve the lives of women and girls facing challenges ranging from lack of access to education and employment to housing insecurity and sexual exploitation.

This year’s grantees include:

American Friends of Natal

Funding therapeutic support groups for wives of combat veterans experiencing PTSD because of the ongoing war. The program provides mental health support and practical coping tools for women managing the challenges of traumatized partners and family responsibilities.

Abortion Fund of Maryland

Formerly Baltimore Abortion Fund. Supports people living in or traveling to Maryland by providing financial and logistical assistance for abortion care, ensuring access to compassionate, stigma-free reproductive healthcare.

CHANA

Emergency funding to support female survivors of domestic violence and their children, addressing urgent needs such as shelter, food, clothing, transportation, utilities, safety planning and basic necessities.

Comprehensive Housing Assistance (CHAI)

Funds critical home repairs and appliance replacements for very low-income Jewish women, enabling them to age safely in place while strengthening neighborhood stability and community well-being.

Prepare for Parole and Reentry

Supports incarcerated women in Maryland as they prepare for parole hearings and successful reentry through individualized planning and advocacy. Founded within the women’s prison system.

Queen B

Supports Level Up, a program preparing Israeli high school girls for STEM studies and technology careers through mentoring, workshops and exposure to leadership and innovation opportunities.

The Rackman Center

Uses legal advocacy to protect women from domestic violence in Israel, addressing the rise in cases during periods of national crisis when women’s safety is increasingly at risk.

Yozmot Atid

Empowers women entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds in Israel to achieve financial independence and sustainable livelihoods amid heightened economic uncertainty.

Now in its 23rd year, JWGF was established by a group of women committed to the power of collective philanthropy to create lasting change for women and girls. Since its inception, JWGF has granted more than $2.5 million, championing innovative and bold approaches to address urgent issues locally and globally.
