The Jewish Museum of Maryland’s 2005 exhibition Intimacy. Image. Identity. presented perspectives on Orthodox Jewish women who cover their hair after marriage as a form of religious modest dress. This series of black and white film portraits by Zoë Reznick traveled across five sites state-wide. Two decades following, the artist reunites the women she photographed and reimagines this work through an expanded curatorial lens. RE: Intimacy. Image. Identity. features select photos from the original show, archival prints and materials, and multi-media reflections from the women participating in the project, regarding the personal significance of this Jewish practice over time, together, in the present.
