January 25 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Community art is a collaborative creative process wherein multiple people’s artistic expression works toward a common goal. This workshop will guide participants through the process of embellishing birdhouses to be installed along the fence in Third Space’s outdoor living room area. No art experience is required!
Just like many hands will touch and change each birdhouse along its journey, shifting larger societal values and beliefs takes the effort of many different people. Creating a birdhouse is the act of intentionally building a safe space for birds to start new life. Birds universally symbolize freedom and peace. As participants create their birdhouses, they should consider which colors and symbols you can use to represent what does a safe community, rich with cultural diversity, looks like. Each community art workshop will last two hours. Everyone is welcome!
