On Thursday, May 14, The Associated hosted its annual LeadHERship event, this year featuring social media influencer and Jewish content creator Miriam Ezagui. More than 200 women gathered for an evening of networking, meaningful conversation and a delicious dessert reception.
The evening celebrated the power of Jewish women coming together to connect, inspire one another and strengthen community. As guests schmoozed with old friends and built new relationships, the room was filled with meaningful conversation, laughter and shared purpose.
Amy Burke Friedman, Chair of Jewish Professional Women, welcomed attendees and encouraged reflection by asking each table, “How do you authentically show up?” Karen M. Singer, Chair of Women’s Engagement & Philanthropy, then spoke about the impact of The Associated’s Annual Campaign and how it fuels vital work across the community, from supporting vulnerable populations like older adults and victims of abuse, to supporting teen programming across Baltimore that empowers the next generation to embrace their Jewish identity.
The program then transitioned into a fireside chat between Harriette Wienner and Miriam, where the two discussed Miriam’s journey, her experiences sharing Jewish life online and the importance of authentic Jewish representation on social media. Miriam also touched on her family’s history, where both of her grandparents were Holocaust survivors.
Known for beginning each of her videos with the phrase, “Hi, my name is Miriam. I’m an Orthodox Jew, and I share what my life is like,” Miriam has built a platform centered around Jewish joy, education and everyday life.
Originally from Maryland, she now lives in New York with her husband and five children. Before becoming a full-time content creator, Miriam worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse and began sharing glimpses of her life on Instagram to foster understanding and connection.
