Lindsay Grossman on Being an Early Intervention Parent Connector

Lindsay Grossman with her family

As a parent connector, I am working to build a supportive and inclusive community for families raising young children with developmental differences and diverse support needs. My hope is to create spaces where parents feel understood, connected and supported through both the challenges and the celebrations that come with raising children on different developmental paths.

One of the most meaningful parts of this role is helping families realize they are not alone. Sometimes that means having people to lean on during difficult periods. But a lot of the time it also means having a community that truly understands why certain milestones and achievements deserve to be celebrated in a big way.

Some families are navigating challenges that are very visible, while others are carrying things that people may never fully see from the outside. I want this community to be a place where families feel comfortable showing up exactly as they are, without feeling like their experiences are either “too much” or “not enough.”

As I continue to grow in this role, I hope to expand the idea of what this community can look like, something centered around connection, belonging, parent education and inclusion. I would love to eventually see the role evolve into something more reflective of that vision, such as a “Growing Together Connector,” where all families feel seen and supported.

To me, “growing together” captures the heart of parenting: our children grow, but we grow too. Through the challenges, the milestones, the unexpected moments and the ways we work to support and advocate for our children, we are constantly learning how to be the best parents we can be.

Parenting is never going to be perfect, but more than anything, I hope to help create a community where families feel understood, supported and reminded that they do not have to do it alone.
