December 9 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Hannukah is about fried foods and lighting candles, and is often given greater importance because of its proximity to other winter holidays. But what about the zealous nature of those who led the rebellion against the Hasmoneans? In this one-off lunch and learn, join Rabbi Jessy in an exploration of what we gain and what we lose when we lean into fanaticism. This learning will take a deeper dive into the Hannukah story and consider the benefits and losses of a group who was relentlessly unwilling to conform to the pressures of a governing body that insisted they shed their Jewish customs and commitments.
BYO lunch and Rabbi Jessy will provide the food for thought — along with group discussion — which will be what nourishes all who come around the table.
