General Contractor Selected for The Associated’s Park Heights Project

Today, we are pleased to announce the selection of Southway Builders, Inc. General Contractor for the redevelopment of our Park Heights campus in Northwest Baltimore City.

The decision comes after an extensive and competitive RFP process for this important project. Many factors were considered in the selection process including past working relationships, cost, timeline and a requirement for minority participation. Southway’s successful bid included 30% MWBE (minority and women-owned business enterprises) participation.

The Baltimore-based Southway Builders has previously worked with The Associated’s agency, CHAI (Comprehensive Housing Assistance Inc.) on the building of Woodland Gardens, an affordable multi-family housing complex in the Park Heights community.

According to Southway President Willy Moore, “We are naturally delighted to have been selected for this very important project, a project important to The Associated, Northwest Baltimore and Baltimore City. We look forward to expanding our relationship with The Associated as well as meeting community goals for minority participation.”

Last week, The Associated unveiled the redevelopment plans for its Park Heights campus in Northwest Baltimore City. As part of an 18-month strategic plan, the campus will serve as the new headquarters for The Associated and will feature a fully renovated Center for Sports and Wellness for the JCC, the Jewish Library of Baltimore and multipurpose/conference spaces for the community. The redevelopment of the Park Heights campus, now known as the Goldsmith Campus, grew out of The Associated’s 2020 Centennial Anniversary. Architecture firm, Quinn Evans had also been retained for this redevelopment and is overseeing the redesign.

Construction on the project is expected to start in early spring 2024.
