Freshman Volunteer Network (FVN)

Freshman Volunteer Network (FVN) fellows are empowered to work with a nonprofit organization in the community to create a group service project.

The FVN fellows learn about vital community needs and work together to create a hands-on service projects and make a difference in a nonprofit organization in the community. The teens will be responsible for leading all aspects of the volunteer projects including: Jewish service learning, programing at the site and a post-service reflection. Each teen will earn 15 community service hours if they participate in all of the service projects.

Key Components:

  • Nine-month program: September 2016-May 2017
  • Three Sunday seminars
  • Four service projects
  • Development and implementation of service projects

During the program the Fellows will learn:

  • Group decision-making
  • How to plan and implement a service project
  • How to develop Jewish service learning
