Seven Ways You Can Make a Difference During the Current COVID-19 Pandemic

COVID-19 continues to affect our daily lives. From families and individuals who need food, to older adults experiencing isolation, there are many in our community who could use our help now more than ever.

Check out these volunteer opportunities from our agencies and overseas partners on ways you can make a difference in someone’s life.

Prevent Loneliness

Through Jewish Volunteer Connection, volunteers will reach out to isolated individuals, helping them feel connected during these trying times while also checking in on their wellness. Interested individuals should visit this page for more info.

Become a Virtual Camp Counselor

JCC’s 4Front and J Camps are looking for teens to volunteer as virtual “camp counselors” to help out J Camp families. These “Counselors” will be matched with a camper to hang out with virtually once a week. Activities include crafts, playing games, reading books and more. Visit this page to sign up.

Make Non-Surgical Face Masks*

Turn a family activity into a great cause by creating and donating cloth face masks. These masks have been requested by health-care workers in the area. For information on how to make the masks and how to handle delivery, please visit this page. Lifebridge Health is also looking for volunteers to assemble non-surgical masks. Please visit this page for their information if you wish to volunteer.

Prepare Family Care Kits*

The “new norm” has affected many of us, and some families may not have access to some basic essentials. Consider putting together a family kit (consisting of soap, dry soup packets, fleece blankets and more). Click here for more information.

Fill Out A Volunteer Form

Don’t know where to start? JVC has created a Donation Interest form, found here. There is also an option to be played on a list to receive updates on additional volunteer and donation needs.

*These activities require volunteers to deliver items directly. Volunteers delivering critical donations to nonprofits are permitted to travel under the “stay-at-home” restrictions. Please contact JVC if you require additional information.
