Nadell recounts the story of antisemitism in America and how it has shaped the lives of Jews for almost four centuries. A winner of the National Jewish Award in American Jewish Studies\, the book also was featured in the The Wall Street Journal’s October list of “books to read.” Hadassah Magazine and Religion News Service named it on their lists of the best books of 2025.  \n\n\n\n\n\n    \n     \n      \n        \n          About the Author\n        \n      \n    \n     \n      \n                    \n                Professor Pamela Nadell holds the Patrick Clendenen Chair in Women’s and Gender History at American University. She is the author of Antisemitism\, an American Tradition and America’s Jewish Women: A History from Colonial Times to Today\, both of which have received national awards and critical acclaim.
