DESCRIPTION:Baltimore Unity Suppers: Challah & Cornbread\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n \nChallah & Cornbread starts at 4pmDinner from 6:30pm-9pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nBreaking bread together is a powerful way to get to know someone\, learn others’ stories\, and build community. Enjoy a meal and conversation with old and new friends about what brings joy and gratitude into your life\, how you honor your ancestors\, the ways you navigate the journey of being human\, and how we can center the core truths that guide us from within. \n\n\n \nThird Space is excited to host this meal in partnership with Dazia Wallerson from Baltimore Unity Suppers by Leap Forward and Kohenet Dr. Harriette Wimms of the Jews Of Color Mishpacha Project. \n\n\n \nBaltimore Unity Suppers is a joint project of the Jews of Color Mishpacha Project and Leap Forward and housed at Third Space. Baltimore Unity Suppers are built on the simple hypothesis that when people break bread together it’s hard to continue to hate one another. Each instance of the Baltimore Unity Suppers is a little different\, focusing on specific themes relevant to the season and the moment. Come meet new friends who look\, speak\, or pray differently than you do. Figure out what you have in common and learn more about what you don’t. \n\n\n \nFabulously Answered Questions (FAQs): \n\n\n \nWhat happens at Baltimore Unity Suppers? At its simplest\, what happens is dinner and conversation. The conversation is often guided by discussion questions or other moderating activities that might include artmaking\, storytelling\, or other shared activities. \n\n\n \nWho is invited to Baltimore Unity Suppers?Everyone! If you are open to meeting new people and hearing different perspectives with curiosity rather than judgement\, we would like to have you here. \n\n\n \nCan I bring my children?Yes! Everyone is welcome from our youngest community members to our elders. The intergenerational elements of Baltimore Unity Suppers create some of the most generative and meaningful interactions. \n\n\n \nWill the food be vegan/gluten free/kosher?We always order vegetarian and/or vegan food for Baltimore Unity Suppers. We regularly accommodate gluten-free\, dairy-free\, nut-free\, and kosher-certified needs. There is a spot on your registration form where you can let us know what you need\, and we will be happy to provide! \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? SUMMARY:Get into the Studio with the Jewish Studio Project
DESCRIPTION:Get into the Studio with the Jewish Studio Project\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nIn this playful\, rejuvenating workshop\, participants lean into the invitation that as human beings we were created to be creative. Consider yourself an artmaker? Say no more. Love the idea of working with art materials but have convinced yourself that you are not an artist? This is for you! \n\n\n \nIn this hands-on workshop\, you’ll explore rich ideas on the theme of Hannukah and then roll up your sleeves in the studio and see what emerges. No art-making experience required—come explore and celebrate this new creative space with us! Even more exciting\, Third Space community member Emily Gaines Demsky will be leading our Jewish Studio Project efforts in the year ahead! \n\n\n \nThe Jewish Studio Project (JSP) is a nationally recognized organization that builds creative capacity across the Jewish community. This new partnership with Third Space brings JSP’s methodology and best practices to Baltimore. Through hands-on programming that blends art-making and deep Jewish learning\, we will create opportunities for people to tap into their innate creativity and connect more deeply with themselves and each other. \n\n\n \nEmily Gaines Demsky is passionate about the power of perspective. She makes bright paintings of flowers – the ultimate symbol of hope and possibility – and she is the founder of Tell Me 3 Good Things on Substack\, a community practice where we Notice\, Name + Share simple good things each day as a way of keeping hope alive during difficult times. Emily is also the creator of the f/LIGHT DECK\, a tangible tool to help curious people shift their perspective and shift their lives. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? The traditional Hebrew blessing over bread thanks G!d for bringing forth bread from the earth. Be a conduit of that divine work when you make (and eat!) cross-cultural breads with challah and cornbread making. \n\n\n \nDough’s gotta rise\, so while it rests\, we will play cards and chat with our fellow breadmakers! \n\n\n \nKohenet Dr. Harriette Wimms is on faculty at Third Space at Shaarei Tfiloh. Kohenet Dr. Harriette is a community convener\, Jewish professional\, spiritual ritualist\, lecturer\, and social justice advocate for people marginalized by power and oppression. She is a Maryland licensed clinical psychologist\, and founder and executive director of the Jews of Color Mishpacha Project. \n\n\n \nAs a Black Jewish woman who has lived in and loved Baltimore for nearly 40 years\, Harriette is passionate about the mission of Third Space. Harriette feels we need “middle spaces” where we are able to meet with people who are like us and different from us\, to build connections that lift up the beauty of Baltimore and the sacredness of our diverse experiences and similar hopes for a strong Baltimore. She is especially interested in exploring legacy experiences of people in the Mondawmin and Auchentoroly Terrace neighborhoods and helping the community where Third Space lives feel welcomed and respected. \n\n\n \nK’ Harriette is a Schusterman fellow\, a Selah fellow\, and a contract trainer for Keshet. She is most proud of being mother to her 20-year-old daughter. She enjoys gardening\, sipping cups of tea in the morning\, giving hugs\, and listening to music. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? SUMMARY:Baltimore Unity Suppers: January 2027
DESCRIPTION:Baltimore Unity Suppers: January 2027\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nBreaking bread together is a powerful way to get to know someone\, learn others’ stories\, and build community. SUMMARY:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nWork is hard. Family is hard. The world is hard. Life is hard. Even meditation seems hard. But it doesn’t have to be. \n\n\n \nIn this series of Happenings\, we’ll explore Jewish teachings\, music\, and mindfulness meditation practices designed to make life feel a bit less hard\, a bit more joyful\, a bit more aligned. No experience with meditation needed. Come comfortable and curious. \n\n\n \nWisdom from the early Chasidic movement points to a spirituality that lives in daily life. Mindfulness meditation practices can help ground us and enable us to tap into that spirituality with less of the noise that often obscures our awareness. Music and poetry awaken our creative\, non-rational minds. \n\n\n \nIn each session we will learn a bit of Jewish wisdom which will form the inspiration for our meditation and will be augmented by contemporary poetry and Jewish meditative music. Meditation will be partially guided and partially silent. Novice meditators will have plenty of support\, direction and the opportunity to find a new way of being present in life. Experienced meditators will be enriched by the energy of practicing with companions in a framework of Jewish spirituality. \n\n\n \nThese sessions are designed to be accessible for everyone at every level. Text\, music\, poetry\, meditation – If you are an expert in any of these\, you are welcome. If you are a beginner\, you are welcome. \n\n\n \nRabbi Elissa Sachs-Kohen served two Reform congregations for a total of 26 years: Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford\, CT and Baltimore Hebrew Congregation in Baltimore\, MD. Her rabbinate and personal spiritual life are deeply shaped by her participation in the Clergy Leadership Program with the Institute for Jewish Spirituality\, an 18-month fellowship bringing together early Chasidic wisdom\, mindfulness meditation\, yoga\, music\, and prayer.Join Rabbi Sachs-Kohen for Mediation Workshops in November\, January\, and into 2027. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community?
