SUMMARY:Consummate Believers: Adam Weinberg in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Consummate Believers: Adam Weinberg in Concert\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nConsummate Believers is a 9-song exploration of the stories told to Adam by his two grandmothers. On his mother’s side\, Sylvia Weinkranz is 104 years old. She is a Holocaust survivor. Of her\, Adam says\, “Her story of survival\, and the loss it brought is impossible to understand.” On his father’s side\, Frances Weinberg is 99 years old. Her family was already in the United States before WWII broke out. She grew up in extreme poverty and spent WWII helping families who lost loved ones in the war. She lived her life as the ultimate optimist\, and while relegated to a wheelchair since Covid\, she remains joyous. \n\n\n \n“This album is about these two women. The songs are stories drawn from tales and ideas I heard from these remarkable women.” \n\n\n \nThe show features Adam Weinberg on vocals & guitar\, Jason Matthews on keyboards and Moshe Ribbi on drums/percussion. Come and experience the full album along with other original tunes decorated with stories about the lives of Adam’s grandmothers — including tales of survival during the Holocaust. \n\n\n \nBYOBubbie! Bubbies (or Zaydies!) come for free when accompanying their grandchildren. When you enter the code BYOB at checkout\, you’ll get up to two free tickets for your grandparent(s) when you purchase a standard or supporter ticket. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? SUMMARY:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality: Shabbat Edition
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality: Shabbat Edition\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nThe week is long. The end of it should not be. Shabbat is a time for rest\, rejuvenation and shedding what we’ve collected during the week that requires release! Join Rabbi Elissa Sachs-Kohen and Third Space resident musician\, Ami Yares\, for a Shabbat gathering that leans deeply into music\, poetry\, and meditation. Together we will reach for wonder\, awe\, and respite from an increasingly chaotic world. No prior experience with Shabbat or meditation needed. \n\n\n \nIn this poetry\, reflection\, and song-filled gathering we’ll invite calm\, sweetness and joy. No prior experience with Shabbat needed. Come with all that has piled up in the first six days of the week and we’ll lift each other up as we welcome the seventh. \n\n\n \nTwo complimentary but essentially different concepts are at the root of all Jewish prayer rituals. One\, called Keva\, ( קבע) is the fixed structure of our prayers — what we say\, when and how. The second\, called Kavanah ( כבנה) is the intention\, the internal experience\, the “spirit” with which we pray. \n\n\n \nIn this Shabbat Evening service\, we will lean deeply into Kavanah through music\, poetry\, and meditation. Some traditional prayer structure\, Keva\, will guide us while we make space for deep\, and perhaps new\, relationships with the prayers\, ourselves\, and the One to whom we offer our prayers. \n\n\n \nCome with an open heart and curiosity. We will welcome the peace of Shabbat together. \n\n\n \nRabbi Elissa Sachs-Kohen served two Reform congregations for a total of 26 years: Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford\, CT and Baltimore Hebrew Congregation in Baltimore\, MD. Her rabbinate and personal spiritual life are deeply shaped by her participation in the Clergy Leadership Program with the Institute for Jewish Spirituality\, an 18-month fellowship bringing together early Chasidic wisdom\, mindfulness meditation\, yoga\, music\, and prayer. Join Rabbi Sachs-Kohen for Mediation Workshops in November\, January\, and into 2027. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? DESCRIPTION:We are Framily: A Jews of Color Gathering for Gratitude\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nFamily isn’t always who you’re related to—sometimes it’s who shows up for you. Framily are the friends and family who are your chosen beloveds. \n\n\n \nJoin Third Space\, the Jews of Color Mishpacha Project\, and Leap Forward a joyful gathering for Jews of Color and our allies honoring the people who love us\, support us\, and show up for us—whether we’re related to them or not. Expect good food\, karaoke favorites\, laughter\, community\, and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the people who make life meaningful. \n\n\n \nWe’ll share a meal\, build connections\, and reflect on the many ways family is created—not just through genes\, but through love\, friendship\, and belonging. Bring your favorite people or come meet some new ones. Either way\, you’ll leave with a fuller heart (and probably a song stuck in your head). Because family is important—but framily is pretty great too. \n\n\n \nFacilitated by Kohenet Dr. Harriette Wimms of the Jews of Color Mishpacha Project and Dazia Wallerson of Leap Forward. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? SUMMARY:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nWork is hard. Family is hard. The world is hard. Life is hard. Even meditation seems hard. But it doesn’t have to be. \n\n\n \nIn this series of Happenings\, we’ll explore Jewish teachings\, music\, and mindfulness meditation practices designed to make life feel a bit less hard\, a bit more joyful\, a bit more aligned. No experience with meditation needed. Come comfortable and curious. \n\n\n \nWisdom from the early Chasidic movement points to a spirituality that lives in daily life. Mindfulness meditation practices can help ground us and enable us to tap into that spirituality with less of the noise that often obscures our awareness. Music and poetry awaken our creative\, non-rational minds. \n\n\n \nIn each session we will learn a bit of Jewish wisdom which will form the inspiration for our meditation and will be augmented by contemporary poetry and Jewish meditative music. Meditation will be partially guided and partially silent. Novice meditators will have plenty of support\, direction and the opportunity to find a new way of being present in life. Experienced meditators will be enriched by the energy of practicing with companions in a framework of Jewish spirituality. \n\n\n \nThese sessions are designed to be accessible for everyone at every level. Text\, music\, poetry\, meditation – If you are an expert in any of these\, you are welcome. If you are a beginner\, you are welcome. \n\n\n \nRabbi Elissa Sachs-Kohen served two Reform congregations for a total of 26 years: Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford\, CT and Baltimore Hebrew Congregation in Baltimore\, MD. Her rabbinate and personal spiritual life are deeply shaped by her participation in the Clergy Leadership Program with the Institute for Jewish Spirituality\, an 18-month fellowship bringing together early Chasidic wisdom\, mindfulness meditation\, yoga\, music\, and prayer.Join Rabbi Sachs-Kohen for Mediation Workshops in November\, January\, and into 2027. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? Bring Jewish practice to life through objects and text study. Whether you are just getting started in building a Jewish life or far along in your Jewish journey\, we will deepen your engagement with Jewish life over four sessions. Art Historian Professor Gabriel Chazan and Rabbi Jessy will bring together a discussion of the objects used in Jewish holidays and culture alongside various Jewish texts. Using object-based learning\, we will handle artifacts and consider their significance. Each session will engage with one or more objects thematic to the season we are in. \n\n\n \nIn this session we will discuss the long history of the Hanukkah Menorah\, and participants are encouraged to bring favorite family menorahs to share with the group. \n\n\n \nWatch for additional sessions in the Spring of 2027\, including the deli sandwich! \n\n\n \nCome for one or all! \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? DESCRIPTION:Baltimore Unity Suppers: Challah & Cornbread\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n \nChallah & Cornbread starts at 4pmDinner from 6:30pm-9pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nBreaking bread together is a powerful way to get to know someone\, learn others’ stories\, and build community. Enjoy a meal and conversation with old and new friends about what brings joy and gratitude into your life\, how you honor your ancestors\, the ways you navigate the journey of being human\, and how we can center the core truths that guide us from within. \n\n\n \nThird Space is excited to host this meal in partnership with Dazia Wallerson from Baltimore Unity Suppers by Leap Forward and Kohenet Dr. Harriette Wimms of the Jews Of Color Mishpacha Project. \n\n\n \nBaltimore Unity Suppers is a joint project of the Jews of Color Mishpacha Project and Leap Forward and housed at Third Space. Baltimore Unity Suppers are built on the simple hypothesis that when people break bread together it’s hard to continue to hate one another. Each instance of the Baltimore Unity Suppers is a little different\, focusing on specific themes relevant to the season and the moment. Come meet new friends who look\, speak\, or pray differently than you do. Figure out what you have in common and learn more about what you don’t. \n\n\n \nFabulously Answered Questions (FAQs): \n\n\n \nWhat happens at Baltimore Unity Suppers? At its simplest\, what happens is dinner and conversation. The conversation is often guided by discussion questions or other moderating activities that might include artmaking\, storytelling\, or other shared activities. \n\n\n \nWho is invited to Baltimore Unity Suppers?Everyone! If you are open to meeting new people and hearing different perspectives with curiosity rather than judgement\, we would like to have you here. \n\n\n \nCan I bring my children?Yes! Everyone is welcome from our youngest community members to our elders. SUMMARY:Get into the Studio with the Jewish Studio Project
DESCRIPTION:Get into the Studio with the Jewish Studio Project\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nIn this playful\, rejuvenating workshop\, participants lean into the invitation that as human beings we were created to be creative. Consider yourself an artmaker? Say no more. Love the idea of working with art materials but have convinced yourself that you are not an artist? This is for you! \n\n\n \nIn this hands-on workshop\, you’ll explore rich ideas on the theme of Hannukah and then roll up your sleeves in the studio and see what emerges. No art-making experience required—come explore and celebrate this new creative space with us! Even more exciting\, Third Space community member Emily Gaines Demsky will be leading our Jewish Studio Project efforts in the year ahead! \n\n\n \nThe Jewish Studio Project (JSP) is a nationally recognized organization that builds creative capacity across the Jewish community. This new partnership with Third Space brings JSP’s methodology and best practices to Baltimore. Through hands-on programming that blends art-making and deep Jewish learning\, we will create opportunities for people to tap into their innate creativity and connect more deeply with themselves and each other. \n\n\n \nEmily Gaines Demsky is passionate about the power of perspective. She makes bright paintings of flowers – the ultimate symbol of hope and possibility – and she is the founder of Tell Me 3 Good Things on Substack\, a community practice where we Notice\, Name + Share simple good things each day as a way of keeping hope alive during difficult times. Emily is also the creator of the f/LIGHT DECK\, a tangible tool to help curious people shift their perspective and shift their lives. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community?
