SUMMARY:Scene Partners: An Afternoon with Hollywood Actors Adam Shapiro & Katie Lowes
DESCRIPTION:Scene Partners: An Afternoon with Hollywood Actors Adam Shapiro & Katie Lowes\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nReal-life married couple\, and honest-to-G!d scene partners\, Adam Shapiro (The Bear\, The Lincoln Lawyer) and Katie Lowes (Scandal\, Inventing Anna) are about as real-life a dynamic duo as Hollywood gets\, and for this evening\, they’re bringing the whole story home. \n\n\n \nThe conversation kicks off with a candid look at what it’s actually been like to be Jewish in Hollywood: the rooms where it mattered\, the moments it didn’t\, and how their identity has shaped both the work and each other. From there\, Adam and Katie open up about their individual paths\, from Adam’s roots in Philadelphia and co-founding IAMA Theatre Company to Katie’s journey from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts to series like Scandal and Inventing Anna\, plus the unlikely turns along the way. \n\n\n \nThe back half of the afternoon belongs to you. Adam and Katie will open the floor for an extended Q&A where no question is off limits\, and depending on where the day takes us\, may lead the room through a few fun\, low-pressure acting exercises so you can get an actual taste of how actors work a scene. \n\n\n \nCome for the stories. Stay for the chance to put two working actors\, and a real marriage\, through their paces. \n\n\n \nAdam Shapiro is an actor\, theatre producer\, and pretzel entrepreneur splitting his time between sets\, stages\, and a soft pretzel oven. On screen\, he’s appeared in The Bear\, Never Have I Ever\, The Continental\, and The Lincoln Lawyer. On stage\, he’s a co-founder of IAMA Theatre Company\, one of Los Angeles’ leading theatre companies. A Philadelphia native who’s called LA home for 25 years\, Adam is also the founder of Shappy Pretzel Co.\, bringing Philly-style soft pretzels to the West Coast. He lives in Studio City with his wife\, actress Katie Lowes\, and their two kids. \n\n\n \nKatie Lowes is an actress and theatre director best known for playing Quinn Perkins on ABC’s Scandal and Rachel DeLoache Williams in Netflix’s Inventing Anna\, with additional credits including This Is Us\, The Continental\, and The Hunting Wives. She’s also a beloved voice in animation\, having appeared in Frozen\, Zootopia\, and Wreck-It Ralph. A co-founder of IAMA Theatre Company in Los Angeles\, Katie made her Broadway debut in Waitress opposite her husband\, Adam Shapiro. She lives in Studio City with Adam and their two kids\, Albee and Vera. \n\n\n \nPresented in partnership with URJ Camp Harlam. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? SUMMARY:Death Over Dinner — Jewish Edition
DESCRIPTION:Death Over Dinner — Jewish Edition\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nWhy talk about death over dinner? The way we die—illness and loss\, end of life decisions\, death rituals\, what happens after we die—is probably the most important conversation Americans aren’t having. Talking about death not only better prepares us to approach life’s most challenging moments but also helps us articulate and affirm who we are and what we ultimately care about\, leaving us better able to embrace the mysteries of death and to appreciate life. Working with rabbis\, theologians\, wellness specialists\, and palliative care experts; \n\n\n \nDeath Over Dinner—Jewish Edition provides an additional lens through which to build personal beliefs. Death Over Dinner—Jewish Edition is designed to make having conversations about death and dying as simple and accessible as breaking bread around the dinner table. More than ever\, we need spaces where we can dig deeper into the wealth of Jewish wisdom about death and dying. \n\n\n \nDeath Over Dinner—Jewish Edition is a project of Reboot in collaboration with Michael Hebb\, Founder of Death Over Dinner\, and IKAR. \n\n\n \nKohenet Dr. Harriette Wimms is Faculty\, Community Engagement and JOCISM Inclusion at Third Space. DESCRIPTION:Consummate Believers: Adam Weinberg in Concert\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nConsummate Believers is a 9-song exploration of the stories told to Adam by his two grandmothers. On his mother’s side\, Sylvia Weinkranz is 104 years old. She is a Holocaust survivor. Of her\, Adam says\, “Her story of survival\, and the loss it brought is impossible to understand.” On his father’s side\, Frances Weinberg is 99 years old. Her family was already in the United States before WWII broke out. She grew up in extreme poverty and spent WWII helping families who lost loved ones in the war. She lived her life as the ultimate optimist\, and while relegated to a wheelchair since Covid\, she remains joyous. \n\n\n \n“This album is about these two women. The songs are stories drawn from tales and ideas I heard from these remarkable women.” \n\n\n \nThe show features Adam Weinberg on vocals & guitar\, Jason Matthews on keyboards and Moshe Ribbi on drums/percussion. Come and experience the full album along with other original tunes decorated with stories about the lives of Adam’s grandmothers — including tales of survival during the Holocaust. \n\n\n \nBYOBubbie! Bubbies (or Zaydies!) come for free when accompanying their grandchildren. When you enter the code BYOB at checkout\, you’ll get up to two free tickets for your grandparent(s) when you purchase a standard or supporter ticket. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? SUMMARY:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality: Shabbat Edition
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality: Shabbat Edition\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nThe week is long. The end of it should not be. Shabbat is a time for rest\, rejuvenation and shedding what we’ve collected during the week that requires release! Join Rabbi Elissa Sachs-Kohen and Third Space resident musician\, Ami Yares\, for a Shabbat gathering that leans deeply into music\, poetry\, and meditation. Together we will reach for wonder\, awe\, and respite from an increasingly chaotic world. No prior experience with Shabbat or meditation needed. \n\n\n \nIn this poetry\, reflection\, and song-filled gathering we’ll invite calm\, sweetness and joy. No prior experience with Shabbat needed. Come with all that has piled up in the first six days of the week and we’ll lift each other up as we welcome the seventh. \n\n\n \nTwo complimentary but essentially different concepts are at the root of all Jewish prayer rituals. One\, called Keva\, ( קבע) is the fixed structure of our prayers — what we say\, when and how. The second\, called Kavanah ( כבנה) is the intention\, the internal experience\, the “spirit” with which we pray. \n\n\n \nIn this Shabbat Evening service\, we will lean deeply into Kavanah through music\, poetry\, and meditation. Some traditional prayer structure\, Keva\, will guide us while we make space for deep\, and perhaps new\, relationships with the prayers\, ourselves\, and the One to whom we offer our prayers. \n\n\n \nCome with an open heart and curiosity. We will welcome the peace of Shabbat together. \n\n\n \nRabbi Elissa Sachs-Kohen served two Reform congregations for a total of 26 years: Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford\, CT and Baltimore Hebrew Congregation in Baltimore\, MD. Her rabbinate and personal spiritual life are deeply shaped by her participation in the Clergy Leadership Program with the Institute for Jewish Spirituality\, an 18-month fellowship bringing together early Chasidic wisdom\, mindfulness meditation\, yoga\, music\, and prayer. SUMMARY:We are Framily: A Jews of Color Gathering for Gratitude
DESCRIPTION:We are Framily: A Jews of Color Gathering for Gratitude\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nFamily isn’t always who you’re related to—sometimes it’s who shows up for you. Framily are the friends and family who are your chosen beloveds. \n\n\n \nJoin Third Space\, the Jews of Color Mishpacha Project\, and Leap Forward a joyful gathering for Jews of Color and our allies honoring the people who love us\, support us\, and show up for us—whether we’re related to them or not. Expect good food\, karaoke favorites\, laughter\, community\, and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the people who make life meaningful. \n\n\n \nWe’ll share a meal\, build connections\, and reflect on the many ways family is created—not just through genes\, but through love\, friendship\, and belonging. Bring your favorite people or come meet some new ones. Either way\, you’ll leave with a fuller heart (and probably a song stuck in your head). Because family is important—but framily is pretty great too. \n\n\n \nFacilitated by Kohenet Dr. Harriette Wimms of the Jews of Color Mishpacha Project and Dazia Wallerson of Leap Forward. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community? Drawing on Jewish wisdom\, personal experience and decades of spiritual leadership\, she explores questions of grief\, resilience\, meaning and the possibility of renewal after profound loss. \n\n\n \nWhether you are navigating loss\, supporting a loved one or simply seeking wisdom for life’s challenges\, this conversation offers insight\, comfort and hope. \n\n\n \nPresented by The Jewish Library of Baltimore in partnership with Sol Levinson\, Jewish Community Services’ Mitchell David Center for Hope & Healing and Third Space. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partners Baltimore: Building Community One Partnership at a Time\n Looking to meet new people and strengthen connections across Baltimore’s Jewish community?
