SUMMARY:The Year To Come: Creating a Dream Map for 2027
DESCRIPTION:The Year To Come: Creating a Dream Map for 2027\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nAs we welcome 2027\, join Kohenet Dr. Harriette for a joyful gahtering of creativity\, reflection\, and possibility. Together\, we’ll create Dream Maps (also known as vision boards) to help bring our hopes and aspirations for the year ahead into focus. \n\n\n \nInspired by the themes of imagination\, creativity\, and personal growth\, we’ll spend time reflection on where we’ve been\, where we’re headed\, and what we hope to cultivate in the coming year. \n\n\n \nWe’ll provide all materials (including magazines\, paper\, scissors\, glue\, and other creative supplies). Enjoy mimosas (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic)\, foods traditionally associated with prosperity and abundance in the New Year\, good music\, and great company as you create. \n\n\n \nWhether you’re a seasoned artist or haven’t touched a glue stick since elementary school\, this gathering is about curiosity\, creativity\, and community\, not artistic skill. Leave with a one-of-a-kind Dream Map and a renewed sense of intention for the year ahead. \n\n\n \nFeel free to bring a few magazines to share\, along with your hopes\, dreams\, and imagination for what 2027 might hold. \n\n\n \nSupporter Ticket pricing helps offset the true cost of this Happening\, making it possible for us to keep standard ticket prices as accessible as possible. We never want cost to be a barrier to participating. If the ticket price presents a financial challenge\, please reach out to Lou Fusco at lou@thirdspacest.org—we’re happy to help. \n\n\n \nKohenet Dr. Harriette Wimms is Faculty\, Community Engagement and JOCISM Inclusion at Third Space. Kohenet Dr. Harriette is a community convener\, Jewish professional\, spiritual ritualist\, lecturer\, and social justice advocate for people marginalized by power and oppression. She is a Maryland licensed clinical psychologist\, and founder and executive director of the Jews of Color Mishpacha Project. \n\n\n \nAs a Black Jewish woman who has lived in and loved Baltimore for nearly 40 years\, Harriette is passionate about the mission of Third Space. Harriette feels we need “middle spaces” where we are able to meet with people who are like us and different from us\, to build connections that lift up the beauty of Baltimore and the sacredness of our diverse experiences and similar hopes for a strong Baltimore. She is especially interested in exploring legacy experiences of people in the Mondawmin and Auchentoroly Terrace neighborhoods and helping the community where Third Space lives feel welcomed and respected. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n YAD Foodies Collective Event: A Taste of Fall\n Address provided upon registration. Tevet is a month associated with constriction\, cold\, and challenge\, yet Jewish tradition teaches that it is precisely in such moments that inner illumination becomes most vital. \n\n\n \nThis special concert at MMAE Congregation brings together three powerful musical voices – David Pearl\, his Jewish jazz ensemble Summon the Sparks\, and the 27th Street Klezmer Band – each offering a unique path into that inner realm of light. Together\, these artists create an evening of reflection and release\, stillness and celebration. In the darkness of winter\, and in a world that often feels heavy\, this concert is an invitation to turn inward\, to listen closely\, and to let music illuminate what words cannot. \n\n\n \nNo age restriction \n\n\n \n$20 online\, $25 at the door \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n YAD Foodies Collective Event: A Taste of Fall\n Address provided upon registration. The traditional Hebrew blessing over bread thanks G!d for bringing forth bread from the earth. Be a conduit of that divine work when you make (and eat!) cross-cultural breads with challah and cornbread making. \n\n\n \nDough’s gotta rise\, so while it rests\, we will play cards and chat with our fellow breadmakers! \n\n\n \nKohenet Dr. Harriette Wimms is on faculty at Third Space at Shaarei Tfiloh. \n\n\n \nK’ Harriette is a Schusterman fellow\, a Selah fellow\, and a contract trainer for Keshet. She is most proud of being mother to her 20-year-old daughter. She enjoys gardening\, sipping cups of tea in the morning\, giving hugs\, and listening to music. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n YAD Foodies Collective Event: A Taste of Fall\n Address provided upon registration. SUMMARY:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Jewish Meditation & Spirituality\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nWork is hard. Family is hard. The world is hard. Life is hard. Even meditation seems hard. But it doesn’t have to be. \n\n\n \nIn this series of Happenings\, we’ll explore Jewish teachings\, music\, and mindfulness meditation practices designed to make life feel a bit less hard\, a bit more joyful\, a bit more aligned. No experience with meditation needed. Come comfortable and curious. \n\n\n \nWisdom from the early Chasidic movement points to a spirituality that lives in daily life. Mindfulness meditation practices can help ground us and enable us to tap into that spirituality with less of the noise that often obscures our awareness. Music and poetry awaken our creative\, non-rational minds. \n\n\n \nIn each session we will learn a bit of Jewish wisdom which will form the inspiration for our meditation and will be augmented by contemporary poetry and Jewish meditative music. Meditation will be partially guided and partially silent. Novice meditators will have plenty of support\, direction and the opportunity to find a new way of being present in life. Experienced meditators will be enriched by the energy of practicing with companions in a framework of Jewish spirituality. \n\n\n \nThese sessions are designed to be accessible for everyone at every level. Text\, music\, poetry\, meditation – If you are an expert in any of these\, you are welcome. If you are a beginner\, you are welcome. \n\n\n \nRabbi Elissa Sachs-Kohen served two Reform congregations for a total of 26 years: Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford\, CT and Baltimore Hebrew Congregation in Baltimore\, MD. Her rabbinate and personal spiritual life are deeply shaped by her participation in the Clergy Leadership Program with the Institute for Jewish Spirituality\, an 18-month fellowship bringing together early Chasidic wisdom\, mindfulness meditation\, yoga\, music\, and prayer.Join Rabbi Sachs-Kohen for Mediation Workshops in November\, January\, and into 2027. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n YAD Foodies Collective Event: A Taste of Fall\n Address provided upon registration.
