You select the time\, place\, and vehicle for responding to the prompts\, and can choose to connect with the facilitators or other participants in four optional check-ins throughout the month if your practice is enhanced by sharing with others. \n\n\n \nNote: This practice is designed to be done personally or in community. Attend all of the Wednesday sessions\, or none of them. It’s up to you! \n\n\n \nDiscover your inner barometer and burning questions as you enter the High Holiday season through thinking\, journaling\, talking (to a friend\, to yourself\, or to G!d)\, or making art! Enhance your experience with a packet of art supplies (quantities limited). \n\n\n \nOptional check-ins: Wednesdays\, Aug 12\, Aug 19\, Aug 26\, Sept 2\, Sept 9 | 4 – 5 pm (on Zoom for the first 3; final in person 4 – 5:30 pm) \n\n\n \nEmily Gaines Demsky is passionate about the power of perspective. She makes bright paintings of flowers – the ultimate symbol of hope and possibility – and she is the founder of Tell Me 3 Good Things on Substack\, a community practice where we Notice\, Name + Share simple good things each day as a way of keeping hope alive during difficult times. Emily is also the creator of the f/LIGHT DECK\, a tangible tool to help curious people shift their perspective and shift their lives. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Reset & Refresh Series\n Reset & Refresh is a welcoming space for young couples of mixed heritage* to slow down\, discover themselves\, strengthen their relationships\, and explore what Jewish […] \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation Open House\n Join us to learn first-hand about the work of The Associated’s Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation (JWGF). SUMMARY:Ready for Rosh? A Two-Part Daytime Learning Series with Rabbi Jessy
DESCRIPTION:Ready for Rosh? A Two-Part Daytime Learning Series with Rabbi Jessy\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nWhether the holidays feel late or early\, the Jewish New Year always comes right on time. Are we ready to greet it\, never mind make meaning of it? Join Rabbi Jessy for two consecutive Thursday lunch blocks as we start to reawaken the spirit within us that prepares to welcome the High Holiday season. \n\n\n \nDuring these two lunchtime conversations we will think about what it means to prepare oneself for spiritual reawakening. We’ll also work to shake off the residue that collects on the spirit and our best intentions from Yom Kippur last year to Rosh Hashanah this year. We will consider the wisdom of past sages on how to enter this season\, and set some of our own intentions\, making our own plan for the High Holiday season\, readying ourselves to receive the holidays with meaning and joy. \n\n\n \nThis series is designed to build from one week to the next\, but will not leave behind anyone able to join for only one of the two sessions. BYO lunch and Rabbi Jessy will provide the food for thought – along with the discussion – which will be what nourishes all who come around the table. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Reset & Refresh Series\n Reset & Refresh is a welcoming space for young couples of mixed heritage* to slow down\, discover themselves\, strengthen their relationships\, and explore what Jewish […] \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation Open House\n Join us to learn first-hand about the work of The Associated’s Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation (JWGF). Reverse Tashlich transforms that tradition into action by caring for the waterways around us. Rather than throwing something into the water\, we gather to remove litter and pollution\, helping protect the environment and preserve our shared natural resources. \n\n\n \nJoin the Baltimore Environmental Sustainability Network (BESN) for a morning of environmental action at beautiful Middle Branch Park. Together\, we’ll help remove litter from the shoreline of the Patapsco River\, an important waterway that flows into the Chesapeake Bay. \n\n\n \nNo experience is necessary. Volunteers will receive instructions\, cleanup materials and support throughout the event. The park is largely flat and accessible\, with paved pathways and nearby parking. A water refill station will be available. Please bring a reusable bottle. \n\n\n \nIn partnership with Tikkun HaYam – Repair the Sea. \n\n\n \nBESN is an initiative of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore\, in partnership with Adamah. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Reset & Refresh Series\n Reset & Refresh is a welcoming space for young couples of mixed heritage* to slow down\, discover themselves\, strengthen their relationships\, and explore what Jewish […] \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation Open House\n Join us to learn first-hand about the work of The Associated’s Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation (JWGF). DESCRIPTION:A Month of Reflection: A Daily\, Personal\, Hands-on Practice to Prepare for the Jewish New Year\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nBack again for the third year\, Emily Gaines Demsky and Rabbi Jessy Dressin put a creative spin on the old practice of cheshbon hanefesh\, or accounting of the soul\, with a self-paced and self-guided month-long commitment using a card deck of 30 prompts. DESCRIPTION:A Tashlich Festival: A Morning of Refresh\, Renewal\, and Release\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nJoin us at Lakeside Pavillion in Druid Hill Park for a morning of activities\, seasonal treats (did someone say apples and honey?)\, music\, and the opportunity to cast into the water what no longer serves you. A fun and communal way to help celebrate the High Holiday season and enjoy some outside time with friends\, old and new. \n\n\n \nTashlich\, meaning to cast away\, is a ritual associated with the High Holiday season that invites us to reflect on what no longer serves us and cast it away. In preparation for a new Jewish calendar year\, this practice allows us to start the year with a little less weighing on our spirit. With each pebble we cast into the waters\, we release that which we want to shed before Yom Kippur begins\, and a new year is underway. \n\n\n \nFrom 11 – 11:30 am\, Rabbis Andy Gordon and Jessy Dressin will lead a brief program with story\, song\, and guidance for how to take part in the tashlich ritual. Great for people of all ages. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Reset & Refresh Series\n Reset & Refresh is a welcoming space for young couples of mixed heritage* to slow down\, discover themselves\, strengthen their relationships\, and explore what Jewish […] \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation Open House\n Join us to learn first-hand about the work of The Associated’s Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation (JWGF). Join Rabbi Jessy as we explore the idea of Building the World We Want to See. What is your heart yearning to create? What responsibilities do we have to help build the world as we desire to see it? What wisdom from Jewish tradition helps to imagine our ability to impact the different realms in which we live our days? \n\n\n \nThrough a combination of voices from Jewish tradition\, maybe a song lyric or two\, and the voices in the room\, we will fill up on ideas and engage with important questions on this Day of Atonement. All are welcome—no prior knowledge necessary to participate. This year we will add a brief memorial service between learning and breakfast for those remembering loved ones who are no longer with us. Whether it is your custom to fast or not\, after learning\, join us for bagels and shmear (and maybe some kugel) as the ten days of awe come to an end. \n\n\n \nWhile we eat\, we’ll share some intentions for the year ahead and honor this special and sacred time with new and old friends. \n\n\n \nYou are welcome to come for all or some of this Happening depending on where you plan to spend your time this Yom Kippur. \n\n\n \nSchedule for the day: Learning 4 pm – 5:30 pm. Memorial Service 5:45 pm – 6:15 pm Break fast 6:15 pm – 8 pm \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Reset & Refresh Series\n Reset & Refresh is a welcoming space for young couples of mixed heritage* to slow down\, discover themselves\, strengthen their relationships\, and explore what Jewish […] \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation Open House\n Join us to learn first-hand about the work of The Associated’s Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation (JWGF).
