The Pinckovitch, Graff and Patinkin families had intermarried for generations in their adjoining shtetls in Poland. Marvin Pinkert tells the story of how their lives became further entangled through the scrap business in America across three generations. It’s a story of invention and success, but also of conflict and betrayal. Marvin explores why so many members of his generation decided to forego the family business, in favor of careers in medicine and scientific research, theater and film and even the odd museum director!
